The Greek national anthem consists of 158 four-line stanzas, making it the longest national anthem in the world.
The first 34 stanzas describe the suffering of the Greek people and the slave rebellion, but also the pride of Hellenism.
Stanzas 34-74 describe the battle of Tripoli, in the Peloponnese, which took place in August 1821.
The next 12 stanzas, more precisely stanzas 75-87, describe the battle of Corinth and the famous battle of Dervenaki, a narrow p between the mountains that connects Corinth and the plain of Argolis.
From stanzas 88 to 122, the first siege of Messolonghi (1822) and the drowning of the Turks in the Aheloos River are presented.
The following is a description of the sea exploits of the Greeks, more precisely in stanzas 123 to 138.
In the epilogue of this work by Dionysius, he calls on the activists to get rid of their mutual differences so that Greece can finally be freed from Turkish rule (last 19 stanzas).
