Citizens of Ireland, allies, and observers of the world of EREV2:
Today, I do not stand before you to announce defeat, nor to abandon responsibility. I stand to close a chapter with honor, to give voice to a nation that, though small in number, was never small in will.
The Republic of Ireland reaches the end of its active existence within this world today. Not due to lack of conviction, nor abandonment, but because even the strongest nations must recognize when their cycle has come to an end. To govern also means knowing when to hold the banner high and when to lower it with dignity.

Ireland endured when circumstances were unfavorable. It existed when silence replaced crowds. It was governed when doing so no longer granted power, but demanded responsibility. And still, the choice was made to remain, to represent, and to decide until the very last moment—because a nation is not measured by its size, but by how it faces its end.
To those who once called Ireland home, who fought under its name, who defended it through words or actions: this closure belongs to you as well. Every step taken, every decision made, and every effort to keep it alive forms part of a history that does not vanish simply because it ends.
To our allies and the nations that maintained diplomatic relations with us, you have my respect and gratitude. In times when it was easier to ignore than to cooperate, you chose to recognize Ireland as an equal. That alone gave meaning to its existence until the end.
Today, Ireland does not fade into oblivion. It withdraws with its head held high. Its name will stand as that of a nation that chose an honorable ending over an empty survival. There was no collapse, no abandonment—there was a conscious, responsible, and firm decision.
Let this act be remembered not as the death of a country, but as the conclusion of a story told with integrity. Because even in virtual worlds, dignity still carries weight.
With this message, Ireland lowers its banner. Not in silence, but with respect. Not in shame, but with pride.
Ireland stood. Ireland endured. Ireland bids farewell.
With eternal honor,
President of the Republic of Ireland
